I finished sewing the lab coat this morning, and have updated the lab coat pattern page with construction photos! I don't have a completed coat picture up yet because I need a model for it, but I hope to have it up within the next few days. Enjoy!

Here’s how I made the goggles for my Dr. Horrible costume, starting with the green Fibre-Metal VG800-H5 welding goggles.

1. Removed lenses, vents, and elastic strap.
2. Washed with soap and water.
3. Roughed up the surface with a medium-grain sandpaper.
4. Coated with Mod Podge. This firmed up the plastic and gave the paint a good surface to adhere to.

Did you paint it? Or sand it?

I'm wondering what's the best approach.

First off, don't be an idiot like me and decide to make the costume at the last possible second. While I ordered the boots, gloves and goggles a few weeks before, I didn't actually decide to make the costume for the convention I was going until the day before.

Here's me at PAX. I think I was the only white-coated Dr. Horrible there, and I met chalkbunny whom I took a few photos with (though I didn't know who he was at the time). There was also a really good Captain Hammer (see my album), and a Dr. Horrible groupie.

Well, it's less than two days to DragonCon and my costume's coming together. I tried to take pictures of my process as I went through and modified the goggles from the original VG800-H5s to try and make them look closer to the original. Here's what I came up with:
